Alec Baldwin faces involuntary manslaughter charges in the 2021 death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Rust set, SAG-AFTRA and fellow actor Mickey Rourke defended him.

In an interview with CNN, New Mexico’s First District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies explained how she charged Alec Baldwin and gunman Hannah Gutierrez-Reed with involuntary manslaughter.
She explained that just because a fatal shooting was accidental, as it was in the case of Halyna Hutchins, does not mean that no one can be prosecuted.
“There was such a lack of safety and security standards on that set… There was live streaming on the set,” she told CNN.
“Nobody was checking them, or at least not checking them consistently. And then somehow they were loaded into the gun handed to Alec Baldwin. He didn’t check it.
“He didn’t do any of the things he should have done to make sure he was safe or that everyone around him was safe. He then pointed the gun at Halyn Hutchins and pulled the trigger.
Ms Carmack-Altwies described the production as “a really fast and loose set”.
