Ben Affleck Amazon Nike Movie ‘Air’ Getting Theatrical Release – Deadline

Good news for the Monday morning show: Amazon Studios is getting back into the wide theatrical release business with Ben Affleck’s Nike movie Air, with its companion star Goodwill Hunt co-Oscar winner Matt Damon. Air will receive a worldwide theatrical release on Wednesday, April 5 this year, leading into the lucrative Easter weekend. This is Amazon’s first wide theatrical release since its Sundance acquisition, Mindy Kaling’s late night, which had a wide summer release in 2019.

Damon plays maverick Nike player Sonny Vaccaro and Affleck plays Nike co-founder Phil Knight with Jason Bateman as Rob Strasser, Chris Messina as David Falk, Matthew Maher as Peter Moore, Marlon Wayans as George Raveling, Chris Tucker as Howard White, Viola Davis as Deloris Jordan, Gustaf Skarsgård as Horst Dassler, and Julius Tennon as James Jordan – among others. While Damon and Affleck appeared in such films together such as Goodwill Hunt and Dogma, Air producers the first time Affleck has directed his longtime friend.
