Manchin, who defends fossil fuels like coal and oil, will be part of the U.S. delegation to Davos, putting members of his own party at the top.
Manchin is scheduled to take part in a panel discussion on “Repowering the World” on Thursday with executives from a fuel cell company and a power distribution company, as well as British Labor leader Keir Starmer.

Panelists will discuss “the climate emergency, geopolitical conflicts and pressures on prices in the context of a global energy crisis,” and how leaders should address short-term energy demand with long-term supply and sustainability issues.
Al Gore, a longtime advocate of the climate change movement who has faced criticism over his personal carbon footprint, will appear at a panel discussion at the Climate TRACE research group, which found that global greenhouse gas emissions are significantly lower.
