Lamina1 Names xx Network CTO Will Carter as Chief Technology Officer

LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Lamina1– the Layer 1 and Metaverse blockchain project founded by science fiction icon Neal Stephenson and crypto pioneer Peter Vessenes – has appointed Will Carter as Chief Technology Officer. He has served as CTO of xx networkthe first and only quantum-resistant and privacy-oriented blockchain system, and Elixirthe most private messaging app for Web3 communities, Carter will now lead the design and development of Lamina1’s core technology platform built by creators, for creators, to support the Open Metaverse economy.

Carter brings a decade of experience in research and technology development, most recently with renowned cryptographer and digital currency inventor, David Chaum. At the xx network, he led the group’s blockchain research division, which designed and built the first secure layer of the quantum 1 blockchain. His previous work focused on developing immersion technology, designing AR/VR headsets based on diffractives at Trecento and developing GPU-accelerated computer vision at NASA. Per Lamina1’s leadership, his experience building Web3 technology and his passion for building rich, deep knowledge make him a perfect fit for Lamina1’s great artistic and technological ambitions as it plans to define the foundation of its new blockchain and Open Metaverse systems.

Carter is the newest addition to the Lamina1 team, currently led by President and Chief Technology and Entertainment Officer, Rebecca Barkin (formerly of Madison Square Garden Sphere and Magic Leap).
