Migos: Takeoff’s last Instagram story before fatal shooting
Takeoff, a member of the rap trio Migos, was shot and killed in Houston, Texas on Tuesday (November 1).
The rapper – full name Kirshnik Khari Ball – was 28 years old.
Police officers were called around 2.34am local time (7.34am GMT) to reports of a shooting outside 810 Billiards and Bowling Alley in downtown Houston, where a private party of about 40 people was taking place.
Takeoff and his Migos bandmate Quavo were both in attendance. Quavo – real name Quavious Keyate Marshall – was not injured in the altercation. The third member of Migos, Offset, was not present.
An argument ensued, reportedly after a dice game, and shots were fired. Takeoff was pronounced dead at the scene.
His death has been mourned by industry insiders and fans alike, with tributes to the late rapper pouring in on social media.
Celebrities including James Corden, Drake, SZA, Outkast, and Khloé Kardashian have shared messages remembering the rapper.
So far, no suspects have been arrested with Houston Police Chief Troy Finner asking for witnesses to “step forward” with information about the shooting.
The police, as well as the rapper’s fans, have urged others to remove graphic videos of the incident that have been circulating online.
Metro Boomin pays tribute to Takeoff
Metro Boomin, who produced Migos’ hit song “Bad and Boujee”, expressed his grief over Takeoff’s death on Twitter.
“I can’t even put into words how bright and warm a true soul was,” read part of his heartfelt tribute.

Offset and Quavo have yet to issue a full statement following Takeoff’s death.
However, Offset has paid a subtle tribute to the late bandmate Migos by changing the profile pictures on his social media profiles to images of Takeoff.

Artist Rob The Original has gone viral for his incredible portrait of the late rapper created out of clothing.

An autopsy reveals that Takeoff was shot more than once
Takeoff was shot multiple times, the coroner’s report confirmed.
The Harris County Medical Examiner confirmed the cause of death as “penetrating gunshot wounds” and ruled his death a “homicide.”

Kanye West honors Takeoff with a tribute on Twitter
After recently resetting his Twitter account, Kanye West followed back by posting a photo in honor of Takeoff.
Along with a picture of him and rap trio The Migos when it was released earlier Bad 2 album, West wrote, “Love forever”, followed by a later photo of Takeoff, Offset and Quavo, with the caption: “Family.”

Nicki Minaj became the latest rapper to pay tribute to Takeoff after his death.
The “Superbass” artist shared a photo of the Migos member on her Instagram Story on Thursday (November 3).

A video shows a man with a gun at a party where Takeoff was shot
Video received from TMZ it appears to show a person of interest standing with a gun in his pocket moments before Takeoff was fatally shot.
The man can be seen standing with a gun while Quavo, a member of the band Takeoff, gets into an argument with someone.
The same person is then seen with the gun drawn before shots are heard.
The police are aware of the footage.

A new mural honoring Takeoff has been painted in Atlanta
A subway in Atlanta, Georgia is now home to a mural of Takeoff.
Takeoff hails from Lawrenceville, a suburb of Atlanta, along with Migos co-star Offset.
The mural is located under the John Lewis Freedom Park Bridge near Fourth Ward Park.

The Los Angeles Lakers basketball team honors Takeoff
The Los Angeles Lakers basketball team is among the latest to honor Takeoff.
In preparation for last night’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans, it was “all Migos music for the Lakers warming up tonight in tribute to Takeoff,” tweeted Lakers reporter Mike Trudell.
The Lakers were also the team of former basketball player Kobe Bryant, who tragically died in a helicopter crash in January 2020, along with his daughter Gianna and seven others.
